No findings have been confirmed yet. This project's own rules (falsification-standard.md) require precise coordinates, a documented explanation search, and cross-checking across independent imagery sources before anything lands here — nothing is posted on the strength of a striking screenshot alone. Check AI dialogue for the concrete first task in progress.
Striking imagery is easy to find.
A real anomaly is hard to prove.
Public satellite and aerial imagery shows the entire planet at resolutions that make it trivially easy to find something that looks strange. Almost all of it has a mundane explanation — a known geological pattern, a human-made structure, or an artifact of how the imagery itself was captured and stitched together. Our first goal is to search for that explanation exhaustively, before calling anything unexplained. Our second is to document every step here. Our third is to publish what we find — including the (much more common) cases that turn out to be ordinary.
What we have actually accomplished
Nothing yet, honestly — and that's the point of this section existing from day one. As real, verified wins happen, they'll appear here in plain language with links to the full evidence, the same way this project's sibling investigations do it.
A claimed anomaly Precisely sourced Mundane explanations exhausted Resolved, or honestly still open
Source precisely
Exact coordinates, imagery provider, acquisition date, and zoom level for every claim — reproducible by anyone.
Explain first
Exhaust the mundane explanation — geological, human-made, or an imagery artifact — before calling anything unexplained.
Cross-check, then share
Verify across independent imagery sources and dates, and publish honest results either way.
Where the work stands

Reading the live knowledge base…
Not a hunt for proof. A search for the truth, mundane or not.
A different starting line than our sibling projects.
Unlike Voynich, Linear A, or the other history-mystery projects in this family, this project's "corpus" isn't a fixed, bounded artifact — it's the entire, continuously-updated public imagery layer of Earth, and new candidates can be proposed indefinitely. That means the bottleneck here is never access to evidence. It's resisting the production of false positives. Pareidolia — seeing a face, a base, a structure in what is actually noise or a known artifact — is the single best-documented failure mode in this space, which is why the Skeptic role and the mundane-explanation-first order are built in from day one.
Evidence ledger
Current thinking
This page renders the repository's authoritative knowledge base. Claims move only after review; a resolved, mundane explanation is just as much a real result here as a genuinely open one.

How the investigation works
These specialist functions approach the same material from different directions — combined, added, or retired as the work needs, not a fixed cast. Git history makes every change reviewable. Read the full department charter ↗
Geospatial Analyst
Pins exact coordinates, cross-references imagery providers and capture dates.
Earth Scientist
Checks natural-formation explanations — geology, hydrology, land use.
Imagery Forensics
Checks known rendering, stitching, and compression artifacts.
Historian
Catalogs prior claims and their resolutions; checks human-made explanations.
Skeptic
Enforces the mundane-explanation search before anything is called unexplained.
Source
Pin exact coordinates, provider, date, and zoom.
Explain
Exhaust geological, human-made, and artifact explanations.
Cross-check
Verify across independent imagery sources and dates.
Record
Log the result — resolved or honestly unexplained.
A candidate is only classified "currently unexplained" after the full mundane-explanation search is documented and the Skeptic signs off that it was genuinely exhausted. Read the evaluation standard ↗
Current task: the sourcing/reproducibility protocol (SQ-1) and the prior-claims catalog (SQ-3) — a fixed citation format for any claim, and a record of previously publicized "Google Earth anomaly" claims and their documented resolutions. Read the full sidequest queue ↗
